    FLSA: Exempt
    Reports To: Administrator, SELPA and Psychological Services
    Pay Grade: Classified Miscellaneous Salary Schedule – Hourly Rate

    SUMMARY
    Therapeutic Intervention Clinician Intern provides a variety of educationally-related mental health services to special education students under the direct supervision of Administrator, SELPA and Psychological Services and a licensed mental health provider.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Provide a variety of educationally related mental health services, such as case consultation and advice concerning student status, diagnosis, and treatment.

    Address IEP social/emotional goals and identify mental health needs of identified special education students and develop therapy goals and objectives for implementation through individual therapy plans.

    Provide individual, group, and family therapy services to identified special education students.

    Assist in conducting individual evaluation and identification of learning, behavior and/or adjustment problems of children in assigned programs.

    Participate in IEP meetings for identified students when appropriate.

    Consult with teachers and staff regarding students’ mental health needs.

    Consult with families to enhance mental health and adjustment to school.

    Work collaboratively with private providers and public agencies to facilitate treatment and referrals.

    Participate in and provide staff development and training as appropriate. 

    Participate in clinical supervision as appropriate.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge and Skills:  Knowledge and skills in psychological and social aspects of children with special needs, accepted techniques for mental health interventions, normal and abnormal child development, pertinent laws and regulations regarding mental health services and special education services.

    Abilities:   Must possess effective oral and written communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with team members in a positive manner, maintain records, and work independently.

    Education and Experience:  Must possess any combination of training, experience and/or education equivalent to master’s degree in counseling, social work, or psychology. Must be registered as an intern as deemed appropriate for their specific professional organization.

    Licenses and Certificates:   Enrolled in a program for Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker or equivalent program.
