Drumming Up Connections

Learn to employ hand-drumming and percussion techniques to help clients improve regulation, body awareness, mood states, distress tolerance, communication, cooperation and more. Historically, Rhythm & percussion have been used in every culture to create happiness and connection.  This workshop will focus on using rhythmic interventions in clinical settings with individuals, groups & families. Emphasis will be placed on utilizing both top-down & bottom-up interventions to increase well-being and overall happiness.

PLEASE NOTE DIFFERENT LOCATION: We will be meeting at the WeGotTheBeat rehearsal studio (3385 E. Shields) because we are using their drums.

Presenter:  Cliff Jacobson, LMFT in Chico, CA

Cliff Jacobson, MS, is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and clinical supervisor. He is the founder of North Valley Counseling, in Chico CA., where he works with families, couples, and individuals in private practice. Before entering private practice, he provided therapy services for children and families, in non-profit settings, where he combined his love for hand drumming with his clinical skills to develop several programs using percussion as a vehicle for healing. He worked with young children, as well as teenagers in adolescent residential settings, using percussion and hand drums. Cliff later went on to contract with an intensive outpatient facility to provide drumming therapy to adults with various clinical diagnoses. He also developed and administered several trainings for therapists and clinicians at: Youth for Change in Paradise CA, as well as Butte County Behavioral Health, Butte County Grand Rounds, and the Chico chapter of the CAMFT.

Course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT's , LPCCs, and/or LCSW's as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and counts toward the required Law & Ethics requirement.  CAMFT-CSJV Chapter is approved by CAMFT as a Continuing Education Provider (CEP #62276)
