Suicide Prevention and Treatment

Presenter:  Dr. Al Howsepian

Dr. Howsepian is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF, a Staff Psychiatrist in the VA Mental Health Clinic, and Director of Electroconvulsive Therapy. Dr. Howsepian graduated from the UC Davis School of Medicine and from the University of Notre Dame, where he received his PhD in Philosophy. He completed his Psychiatric Residency at UCSF Fresno. He teaches Psychopharmacology as well as courses in Forensic Psychiatry, Electroconvulsive Therapy, Paraphilias and Perversions, Psychiatry and Religion, and Psychiatric Ethics. His interests include bioethics, geriatric neuropsychiatry and psychodynamic psychotherapy. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry.

 Course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT's , LPCCs, and/or LCSW's as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. CAMFT-CSJV Chapter is approved by CAMFT as a Continuing Education Provider (CEP #62276)
